Project Title: Student Workforce Development


Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The Rotary After 5 Club issued a check to COMPACT to assist youth that will be transitioning out of high school with job placement services, resumé creation and training in interviewing skills. Activities included tutoring sessions, case management sessions, a paid internship, resume building and interview skill workshop.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 45 low-income students benefitted

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

At promise students, primarily from Valley Continuation High School were mentored and helped through the project. The majority of the youth in the project have very dysfunctional families, some suffer from homelessness and food insecurity. This project has exposed them to positive role models and gave them employment possibilities after high school graduation.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? Six club members participated

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

Members participated in mentoring, zoom training sessions, field trip chaperoning, and performing service activities with students.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

COMPACT conducted the workshops, training and case management as well as tracking student activities and running the mentorship program.
