Project Title: 3rd Grade Dictionaries


Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

Dictionaries were received September 2023.

Dictionary Project- Dictionaries were delivered to all 3rd Grade Students within the Anchorage School District.

The project was very successful, and the students were so excited.

2. How many people benefited from this project? Approx 3,000 3rd grade ASD students

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

Anchorage School District 3rd Graders extremely excited to have a dictionary of their own as well as a new learning tool.

To keep for a lifetime for their education and literacy.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 20 Anchorage South Rotary 7 Anchorage International

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

Rotarians coordinated with President Denise Kipke to pick dictionaries at her house for those schools they were assigned too.

Next step 4-way test children's version stickers were placed inside each dictionary along with letter from President Denise Kipke.

Next step Rotarians coordinated with school principals to deliver to the 3rd grade classrooms and presented them with a dictionary of their very own to keep. To see the smiles and reactions on the students faces when you share these are there very own to keep forever is priceless. During the presentation they were given examples on how to look up the longest word, sign language etc.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

Anchorage International cooperated with Anchorage South Rotary with the dictionary project. They donated $1,000 towards the cost of our project and presented a check to President Denise Kipke then they delivered to twelve schools.
