Rotary Club: Anchorage Project Title: Beans Cafe Pantry Packs 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? As part of the Beans Cafe Childrens Lunchbox, the Anchorage Rotary Club donated a total of $5,000 to the organization in support of its Pantry Packs program. Using our funds, the organization is able to leverage those funds to obtain materials to fill the pantry packs which are shelf stable food boxes for families in need. Since COVID, the need for such items has increased exponentially. In addition, our club held a meeting at the site to tour the facility, and members packed pantry packs. Members will also apprised and participated in the packing of pantry packs at the site at various times. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 100s of Anchorage families 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The beneficiaries were local Anchorage families who suffer from food insecurity. These families are able to pick up these shelf stable boxes in order to have food for their families for the week. This particularly helping with child and maternal health, but really families as a whole. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 50 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. The club participated in touring the facility that has been built to provide the service as well as to pack the pantry packs. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?
