Rotary Club: Southeast San Diego Project Title: Youth Programs 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Backpacks loaded with school supplies were distributed to 2400 students at 7 elementary schools in Southeast San Diego. Grant funds were used to fund a bus/transportation for elementary school students to attend the 40th Annual Book Party where they received new books. Funded 10 summer camp scholarships to attend Elementary Institute of Science. Donated fast food gift cards, school supplies, hygeine kits and money to Chavez, Balboa and Knox schools to help support families and student affected by the January foods with basic needs. 2. How many people benefited from this project? Approx 4,000 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Students in 8 Southeast San Diego elementary schools recieved much needed school supplies they couldn't afford to buy. The impact we made to the victims of the January flood can't be measured. By working with the contacts at each school that we've developed after years of working with them we were able to attend to the most immediate needs of the students/families affected.
