District Grant Final Report

District 5340

2023-24

Rotary Club: Rancho Santa Fe

Project Title: Kids Kingdom Renovation

Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The grant money was used to renovate all bathrooms at the orphanage as initially specified. These renovations included new toilets, showers, sinks, retiled walls where necessary, some retiling, painting, new drains, faucets and other plumbing related renovations. The renovations also included installation of a solar water heater for the facilities. Additionally, after notification to the District and an amendment to this grant request, approximately $2000 of the grant money went to assist with the operating costs of the orphanage. These costs included: meals, transportation, healthcare costs, and staff salaries.

2. How many people benefited from this project? Approximately 45 people per year.

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The beneficiaries of this grant were the approximately 35 children who live full time at the orphanage and the staff, most of whom live at the orphanage.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 5

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

The main area of support was communication between the people in charge of the orphanage and the Rotarians at our club. There was much back and forth concerning what the ongoing needs at the orphanage and appropriate use for the funds. Our club is planning a visit for our entire membership to the orphanage in April of 2024.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?
