Project Title: Menstrual Cups for Mozambique


Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

600 girls / women in Mozambique have their menstrual needs met for 10 years because of La Jolla Sunrise Rotary funding and District 5340 matching grant.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 600 girls / women in Mozambique

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

100 cups were given to vulnerable girls/women in Cabo Delgado who had been displaced because of the insurgency in the north of Mozambique.

300 cups to the Ministry of Defense for the women fighting in the insurgency in the north of Mozambique

100 cups distributed by the National Muslim Women's Association

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 23 La Jolla Sunrise Rotarians

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

These Rotarians organized, advertised, and conducted the primary fundraiser for our District Grant club funds.

Additionally, Sherry and Dave Savage (our President elect) visited Mozambique and verified the need for menstrual cups for Mozambique women

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

CouldYou? was the primary partner. They procured the menstrual cups, packaged, distributed, educated etc.
