District Grant Final Report

District 5340

2023-24

Rotary Club: Rancho Santa Fe

Project Title: D'Vine Path Training Support

Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

D'Vine Path is a vocational training center that helps provide adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities with useful life skills. With these skills many students are able to obtain gainful employment. D'Vine path fills a great need in our community as traditional schools end special education programs once a deserving individual graduates from high school. D'Vine Path is located in Fallbrook, California. D'Vine Petal is D'Vine Path's newest program and the recipient of this grant's funding. The program is in the process of expanding and moving into its own classroom. Proceeds from the grant were used to purchase equipment for operation of a floral classroom and retail floral business. These include a commercial display cooler, a credenza, paper cutter and a large wood storage shed.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 38

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The beneficiaries of the grant are the students of the D’Vine Path floral program. This program provides training in floral design for adults with intellectual disabilities, developmental and/or learning disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. This training provides these adults with a skill set to help them bridge the social and cultural barriers that can have a negative impact on their physical health, mental health, and employability. The humanitarian need met by this grant is to assist a vulnerable population in becoming more self-sufficient and empowered.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 1

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

A member of our club visited the organization and learned about the floral program. D'Vine Path has invited all of our members to come to their school and we hope to make that a club event soon.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?
