Rotary Club: Chula Vista Project Title: Project Mercy Home Builld 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? The Chula Vista Rotary Club built a home in eastern Tijuana in partnership with Project Mercy. More than 20 club members, friends, family members and two members from one of the Tijuana Rotary Clubs join to make this new home a reality for a family on April 20. Volunteers painted, sawed, hammered and constructed a beautiful wooden home to a very grateful family. We also provided an outhouse. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 28 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The beneficiaries were the volunteers who worked on the projects and gathered household items for the family - necessities like a table, chairs, storage containers, basic food staples etc. Helping others with no expectation is a great gift, providing lasting satisfaction and gratitude to be able to help. The Simbron Ximeo family were directly impacted with the lasting gift of a safe home, a vast improvement from the tiny shack where they lived. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 18 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Rotarians painted, sawed, and constructed a wooden house. We supervised our Rotary Exchange student from Japan. We engaged the family is project tasks such as painting, which they were eager to do. We enjoyed fellowship and lunch with fellow volunteers. Rotarians provided many household items to the family to outfit their new home. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? We worked with Project Mercy Baja. This was the 19th house we have constructed in collaboration with them. We have a specific Project Manager that likes to work with our Club and we coordinate dates with him. Their assistance in selecting a family, handling construction materials logistics and more is essential to making the project a reality. 7. Income
