Rotary Club: San Diego Coastal Project Title: Youth Expo 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Promoting the Rotary Youth programs in the community (RYLA, LEAD, MODEL UN, YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM, 4 WAY TEST, Interact). We participated in the Bilingual College Fair organized by the Mexican Consulate in San Diego at the UC San Diego Park & Market on January 20th. We were the only non educational institution that participated as an exhibitor. Information, workshops and financial aid was offered at the event. How many people benefited from this project? Hundreds of students 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Students from middle school to college. The students and parents learned about the opportunities that Rotary has to offer with its youth programs, leadership programs and community service opportunities. How rotary is working on peacebulding around the world, and how we impact the communities in different countries. The rotarians also offered guidance, and counseling and even recruited a couple of students for Rotaract and one rotarian. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 5 rotarians, 1 rotaractor 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Provided Information and promotional materials about the Rotary Youth programs to Students and their parents. Promoted our programs with the participating educational institutions, offered to collaborate in providing community service opportunities for the students in partnership with the schools. Offered to partner with the institutions for future projects and events grant would benefit the students. Encouraged participants to learn more about rotary and get involved with the clubs in their communities. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? The event was organized by the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, we were the only non educational institution that participated. It was such an amazing opportunity as we could maximize our impact at minimum cost. The original plan was for our club to fully organize the youth fair and to to offset part of the costs, instead the took the opportunity of participating with the Consulate to minimize cost and maximize the exposure and results. 7.
