Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The Kumiai community of Necua, located on the road to the Wine country in Ensenada was provided with school supplies for the kids in the kindergarten, elementary and middle school kids in the community.

The kindergarten was beautified, playground was partially rebuild and painted, classroom was thoroughly cleaned and organized. Walls were painted, gardening and watering was also done.

The school fence was fixed.

Roofing was provided to elders in the community and single moms.

Sporting gear, for baseball, basketball and soccer was donated.

Additional school supplies were donated by participants in the amount close to 750 dlls.

Participants also had the opportunity to participate in a traditional blessing by the community traditional leader.

Handcrafts were bought from the community to provide as a thank you gift to participants, and to support the local community artisans.

2. How many people benefited from this project? Around 150 people from the community.

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The Kumiai community at Necua, Ensenada, was benefited.

Their school and kids were directly impacted as well as their families, by providing the basic school supplies and a safer environment in the playground for their kids also there was discussions with the leaders on how we can continue to work with the community.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? More than 50 rotarians from different districts came together to bring hope to the community

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.
