Rotary Club: Fallbrook

Project Title: Educational Scholarships

Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

Rotary Club of Fallbrook requested funding for educational scholarships for our local high school & associated continuation school.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 11

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The beneficiaries were high school students who had a financial need to pay for college and had the academic skills and community service experience associated with our Rotary goals. The students selected all were local, and were in need of some financial assistance to further their education. All were involved in their community in some way during their high school years.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? Four

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

The Rotarians involved reviewed the scholarship applications, interviewed the students, followed up with them and the high school to insure the funds were used for tuition at their accepted college. Most of the students followed up with our Club with thank-you letters and some followed up with a report on how the first year/and or semester went.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

The cooperating organization was the local Fallbrook Union High School staff and career/guidance counselor and her staff.
