Rotary Club: San Diego Project Title: Community Highlight Fair 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Our club packaged 300 life packages for the organization "Border Angels" in Southern San Diego, CA. We chose to help this organization as their mission statement is "Border Angels promotes a culture of love through advocacy, education, by creating a social consciousness, and engaging in direct action to defend the rights of migrants and refugees." The 300 packages we made contain; beanies, bandanas, emergency blankets, & hand warmers. In addition we donated electrolytes & around 100 canned food items. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 300+ migrants/refugees 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The beneficiaries are the migrants/refugees that will encounter these packages on their perilous journey of crossing the US border, & these packages are done in the attempt of reducing the number of fatalities along the US/Mexico border. Some die on this journey, due to rough weather conditions & dehydration, therefore the items our club donated can assist for prevention of these negative impacts. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 20 Rotarians & Rotaractors 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Rotarians/Rotaractors came to package the items in a group effort & write inspirational/motivational words on the packages to the people that will receive them on their journey. Some Rotarians/Rotaractors came to the packaging event with canned good donations which is how we obtained around 100 items. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? The cooperating organization is "Border Angels", they will receive the donations & distribute them on their "Water Drops" in the desert project(s) for the migrants/refugees. 7. Income
