Rotary Club: Solana Beach Project Title: Blue Water Film Festival 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? The Blue Water Film Festival (BWFF) is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives to enlighten audiences, educate, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers, and present inspired entertainment for the sole purpose of the environment. Set in San Diego and surrounding areas, BWFF's Annual festival coincides with World Oceans Day and connects an audience of environmental activists, marine science educators, prospective financiers, distributors and eco lovers with rising focus on the next generation of environmental stars in the film industry. The festival attracted an in-person audience, along with an international virtual streaming audience of film enthusiasts from around the world. It screened over 30 + films, over 4 days in San Diego, as well as full day of eco storytelling panels which were hosted at USD and made available for FREE to the general public. Participants learned and drew inspiration from the films, panelists and filmmakers. 2. How many people benefited from this project? There was an in-person audience of approximately 2,000 filmmakers, journalists, financial executives, movie lovers, and environmentalists. Also, an international virtual streaming audience of film enthusiasts from around the world. 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The Blue Water Film Festival provided a landscape of environmental education thru the use of films and first hand experience of the filmmakers as presented in the various discussion panels. The San Diego residents forming the in-person audience were the main beneficiaries, along with an international virtual streaming audience. Participants learned and drew inspiration from the films, panelists and filmmakers. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? none 5. What did they do?
