Proposal Form

La Mesa Sunrise Rotary, District 5340 and Gualaceo Rotary, District 4400 is proposing a $100,000 Global Grant to address the technology needs in 25 low-income school sites including one Colegio Agrícola in four regions of Ecuador. 225 Computers, 23 printers and other accessories will be acquired with the funds. In-service training for teachers and staff will be provided by the various educational institutions as well as costs incurred for room renovations to accommodate the computer labs. Parents of students and other community members will assist in maintaining the equipment and providing security. It is anticipated that adults in the communities will also have access to improving basic literacy skills through the use of technology. Approximately 4500 students in upper elementary school grades, middle and high schools will benefit by the use of these computers which very few school districts in Ecuador have available to integrate technology into the curriculum. It is anticipated that within twelve months all schools will be in full operation and the project can submit its final report and assuring sustainability through the commitment of the school districts, communities, and Rotary Clubs.
