Proposal Form

Create a HIV AIDS testing, counseling, treatment clinic and support center in Ubud. It will be free, confidential, give results and follow up counseling all within an hour. Funds will set up the clinic, support staffing and outreach patient and patient family support for the first year, as well as provide a number of educational workshops in high risk communities.

We have found that there is a desperate need in Bali for this service, as well as for education. The numbers of infected persons have been steadily on the increase in the last years. Housewives and newborn children are also increasingly becoming victims. These days, medication is available that can control the virus and people can be expected to live a normal life span, IF they can be tested early enough and then take the medication properly.

The Indonesian government is provides medications free of charge, but has very limited testing and support facilities. People don't like to go to facilities that exist because they are not confidential, and there is a very strong stigma for anyone who suffers from HIV AIDS.

The Medical Director of the team Rotarian Dr. Steve Wignall, internationally recognized as a principal expert on HIV AIDS in Indonesia, having lived and worked here for over 21 years.
