Project Description Region: Africa Country: Rwanda Location: Kigali Total Budget: $35,025 Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention Our candidate for this Rotary Peace Scholarship is Ms. Lea Rutabayiru of Kigali, Rwanda. Lea has been admitted to the University of San Diego Kroc School of Peace Studies Master of Arts degree program in Social Innovation, a 30-unit 9-month program. Lea has a significant background and a passion in creating peace through educational and economic empowerment to grassroots communities, specifically mothers and children. Lea intends to combine her previous experience and education to create sustainable programs with this Master of Arts degree to tackle challenges and uplift communities in Rwanda beset by unemployment, poverty, lack of education, hunger, and gender inequality.
