Project Description Region: North America Country: Mexico Location: La Rumorosa Total Budget: $30,000 Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Water, sanitation and hygiene This is a facility that houses from 30-45 senior aged men that have been abandoned. Most are ill, in wheelchairs, or bed ridden. The caregivers cook in an outdated home style kitchen. The Stove has one working burner and no oven. The small refrigerator is unable to hold sufficient supplies to cook for the men, and the temperature is unable to safely keep perishables. There are few cooking utensils, pots or pans to cook with. The prep table is old and unstable. There are no dishwashers, freezers, working sinks, or exhaust fans. The room used as a kitchen needs to be cleaned and painted. The windows and doors need to be fixed or replaced and screens need to be added. The storage area needs to have rat proof storage for grains and food in bags. Funds will be used to replace the prep table, the cooking tools, and to purchase appropriate and necessary appliances. Our club along with our partners will clean and paint as well as source and install what we are able to do.
