In the province of Santiago de Chuco, department of La Libertad, there is an opportunity to improve the quality of life of rural families, with a population of approximately 58,320 inhabitants in 2024, this province is recognized for its rich agricultural, livestock and dairy tradition, but has a poverty rate of 44.1% in 2019, one of the districts of this province is Quiruvilca, which has approximately 14,000 inhabitants, with a total of 28 hamlets, one of them is Coñachugo, where the "Cooperativa Agraria Los Emprendedores de Coñachugo - COPALEC" is established; Another district is Cachicadán, with a population of more than 6,000 inhabitants, in the Candoguran Population Center of this district, the "Association of Agricultural and Industrial Producers Quisalta" is established. Both organizations are dedicated to the production of dairy products, since dairy production is an important activity in the province, but it faces challenges such as the lack of infrastructure and adequate technology for milk processing with capacity building.
Currently, producers in the hamlets of Candoguran and Coñachugo face difficulties in marketing the milk they produce, since the processing capacities in the plants are very low, which affects their economic income and their quality of life. In addition, the lack of capacity in the processing plants and limited access to broader markets prevent producers of dairy products in these communities from making the most of their resources.
Our project seeks to equip the processing plants of these communities, strengthen the capacities of their producers, to improve the quality of life of approximately 54 families and 216 people, achieving plants that will process milk from the hamlets of Candoguran and Coñachugo.
With this project, families will be able to improve their income, access broader markets, and offer higher quality products to consumers. In addition, our project seeks to improve the quality of life of the beneficiary families by implementing a training system and technical assistance that will allow them to strengthen their capabilities in processing dairy products. We also seek to promote the sustainable development of the Candoguran and Coñachugo hamlets by implementing more efficient and environmentally friendly production and processing practices.
