Project Description

Region: Africa

Country: Kenya

Location: Ndandini

Total Budget: $62,500

Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene

A 19,000 litre/hour well was created for Ndandini by TRF matching grant 71349 in June 2010. The nearby 3000+ person village of Kyaithani also needs potable water (they currently scoop E-coli infected water from a dry riverbed).

With this new project, we aim to deliver potable water to new water tanks at 6 schools (with over 1200 children) and to 3 new water tanks strategically located to serve all 3000+ villagers in the Kyaithani area. We will do this by also providing a tractor and water wagon to move water from the Ndandini well site to these new tanks located 4-6 km from the well.

The partners from our original well project are partnering with us again and so far we have commitments for $20,000 of the needed $25,000 in club contributions. We need a couple more partner clubs to reach the $25,000 club portion of this $62,500 global grant project.

The Global Grant proposal has already been submitted to TRF and approved. We hope, with your financial help, to be able to submit the formal Global Grant Application to TRF by July 1st 2011.

We are experienced with doing work in this village. See www.ndandini.blogspot.com for a running history of our prior well project and other things that we are doing in the Ndandini area.
