	D-1030    Israel - Galilee Hand in Hand School Computers $17,636 Hand in Hand Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Israel was founded in 1997 as a social entrepreneurial venture to build peace between Jews and Arabs in Israel through development of bilingual and multi-cultural schools. The founders of Hand in Hand recognize that the field of education is a critical path toward civil society, and designed a bilingual, multicultural education program to build the kind of Israel we hope will emerge in the future. Students at each grade level are balanced between Arab and Jewish children. Students at all grade levels are taught in both Hebrew and Arabic, learning to treasure their own culture and language while understanding the difference of others around them. The schools are accredited by Israel’s Ministry of Education. The Hand in Hand venture has expanded rapidly. In ten years enrollment has grown from 56 pupils in Jerusalem and Galilee to a current enrollment of close to 1,000 children in four schools. One of Hand in Hand’s schools, the Galilee School is situated in the Misgav area of northern Israel. This project will help the Galilee School succeed by providing computers and peripheral equipment for junior high and elementary students. Until now, the school has not had sufficient resources to provide this programming and this has hindered enrollment and educational development. There is a strong need to enable the Galilee School to be on the “cutting edge” in terms of educational quality and provide a foundation for “peace education” and academic excellence. This project is fully funded. <24-Jan-08> System Entry Creation of project page. <24-Jan-08> by Brennan Pate Waiting for all signatures from clubs and FR acceptance person. <8-Feb-08> System Entry Grant paperwork sent to The Rotary Foundation. <11-Mar-08> by Brennan Pate Application was resubmitted to Jennifer Kordell via email after final report and audit were accepted by her for MG 54467/ D-225. She had sent a letter on 20-Feb-2008 stating that the latter and former were needed. <11-Mar-08> by Brennan Pate Jennifer Kordell acknowledged receipt. <26-Mar-08> by Brennan Pate Jennifer Kordell wrote that she needs the following: -Host Partner Authorization. Rotary records indicate that the 2007/08 president of the RC of Nazareth is Suhail Esawi who will need to sign the application. If TRF's records are incorrect, the 2007/08 DG of D-2490, Baruch Bernard Barak will need to send Jennifer an email advising the name of the correct 2007/08 president. -International Partner Contact Information and Authorization: All three project contacts must be members of the RC of La Jolla New Generations. Provide a new project contact #3 that is a member of the RC of La Jolla New Generations (full name, phone number, mailing address, email address, and title). The new project contact #3 will also need to sign the authorization page of the application. <27-Mar-08> by Paul Pierce With regards to the International Partner Authorization, revised pages 3 and 7 for Matching Grant Application #66386 have been emailed to RI. Page 7 has been signed prior to sending. <3-Apr-08> by Brennan Pate Jennifer Kordell wrote that she received the required information and forwarded the grant for approval. <23-Apr-08> System Entry Grant approved by The Rotary Foundation. <17-Nov-08> by Paul E. Pierce, Jr. Funds for the project were received by the Host Club in August 2008. The Host Club visited the school on 11th November 2008. Some furniture was installed. Hand in Hand School anticipates that the rest of the furniture and the computers will be installed in mid-December. <20-Mar-09> by Susan Thorning Reminder that a final report is needed two months after the completion of a project. <17-Apr-09> by Susan Thorning Installation of equipment is complete, materials being reviewed for preparation of final report. <13-May-09> System Entry Grant status changed to "Completed". <13-May-09> by Susan Thorning Jennifer Kordell sent an email thanking the committee for submitting the final report for MG 66386 to help provide computers and peripheral equipment to Hand in Hand Galilee School in Eshbal, Misgav, Israel.
