Feedback Truck

$29,927

The purpose of the project is the provision of a refrigerated vehicle for Feedback Food Redistribution KZN. Feedback was established in Cape Town & Johannesburg in 2000 and in Durban in 2004 and Pietermaritzburg in 2006. They are involved with the collection and distribution of excess food to communities in need. The food is collected from establishments such as bakeries, supermarkets, hotels and food manufacturers. They will now be collecting surplus fruit and vegetables from the Durban fresh produce market hence the need for a refrigerated vehicle. During the last financial year Feedback provided 14,531,984 meals, based on an average of 300g per meal; a total of some 4,3m kgs of food. 20,000 sandwiches were collected from affluent schools and distributed to those scholars in need as part of the Bread Buddies programme.
