	D-1047    South Africa - Pietermaritzburg Edu-Kit $13,900 To provide a school kit for approximately 610 students who would otherwise not have adequate school supplies.These children reside in poverty stricken communities where unemployment hovers around 50-60%. HIV/AIDS has left many to fend for themselves.They lack basic school supplies. This project will bring joy and motivation to study harder,this being a major way to break the cycle of poverty through education. This project will improve the quality of life in these communities as the Edu-Kits equip students with basic tools for a better education. Project listed for the 2007-08 Rotary Year. The Matching Grant application number from TRF is #67603. The TRF Staff in charge of this grant is Jennifer Berg (Jennifer.Berg@rotary.org). The handover of the EduKits will take place this month. Because of the stronger Dollar 1660 EduKits will be given. In local currency this is a substantial amount and most welcome and reflects their commitment to this worthy project <27-Mar-08> System Entry Pledge of $100 by Harry Heflin of the Rotary Club of Azusa, District 5300. <20-May-08> System Entry Grant paperwork sent to The Rotary Foundation. <26-May-08> System Entry Grant approved by The Rotary Foundation. <15-Jan-09> by Malcolm Graham This project has been satisfactory completed. It was a one off project for the Copesville Primary School in Pietermaritzburg South Africa. RI have made another similar grant for two different schools, also in South Africa which will be completed this month with the handover of 1600 School Kits.
