Desks for Village Schools

$21,150

In rural India, many village schools do not have desks and benches in class rooms. The pupils learn to read and write sitting on the floor. Later, when the students appear for public examinations in urban schools, they have to sit on benches and write on desks. Unused to this, many a time their performance is much affected.

Provision of desks and benches for village schools - where there are none - will be a big boost to status and performance of the school going village children. The project would help fund providing the rural schools in District 3000 with benches and desks that would help the students to get trained to sit on benches and write on desks. This would greatly improve their performance on Govenrment exams, improve the kinds of jobs they get, and thereby increase their standard of living.

This project funds the provision of steel furniture to rural schools that would need no special maintenance. The school management would ensure the safety of the furniture supplied.
