$50,000
|
|
The $50,000 matching grant project will supply 1000 Q Beta Water Filters to the families that have contaminated water in the Coban and Carcha areas . These filters provide safe drinking water to a family (average of 8 per household) for about two years. It is estimated that 80% of all infectious diseases are water borne, and providing safe drinking water will lead to better health. It is estimated that the Rotarians of Coban Rotary Club will be able to complete the distribution of 1000 Q Beta water filters along with instructions for use within two months. The filters will be distributed in 2008.It is estimated that 50,000 families in this area of Guatemala have unsafe water and the Q Beta water filter program can help inprove their lives and health. |
