AIDS Awareness Youth Center

 Our project is aimed at helping complete a Youth Center here in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands. The Center has been constructed and is operated by a non-profit group called the TCI AIDS Awareness Foundation. You are well-aware that AIDs and HIV are quite prevalent in our region and this group has as its mission to educate youth about the dangers and risks of these diseases, and help prevent their spread in TCI. They have just completed the construction of a multi faceted youth center that will offer counseling facilities, educational resources, vocational training, and recreational outlets for kids (and meeting space - in fact our Rotaract Club is going to use it for their weekly meetings). Our grant is aimed at helping them furnish the center with needed furniture, equipment and other supplies. It's a great project addressing a real community need, and we are confident the TCAAF will run it very professionally so it will have sustained value in TCI. The group has a full time director, and a board of directors comprised of a range of professionals from the community. You can see more about them at www.tcaaf.tc |
