Water Harvesting

$16,051

This project is to provide Rain Harvesting Tanks for 7 rural schools namely Soni Primary school,Katandi Primary School, Wikus Primary School, Nagooke Primary School, Kasaka Senior Secondary School, Bukandula Primary School, and Nsambwe Primary School, and in order to provide clean water to the pupils/students. Most of these schools are community based and cater for the needy and the under privilaged children from poor communities. The schools are located between 80 - 250kilometers where there is no piped water. The communities depend mostly on spring wells which are a distance, in some cases as far as 8 kilometers.Students treck long distances to ferch water in jerricans for school use, this encroaches on thier school time as they have to queue for the water. Also this compromises on hygiene due to scarcity of water.

The success of this project therefore will go a long way in enhancing the hygiene of these needy children, reducing the illneses relate to hygiene and improve the time available to them for education.
