Pune Water Project

The objective of the proposed project is to provide clean accessible water to villages in selected rural districts of India. There are several villages within a radius of 35-40 km from Pune and near Bhigwan, which is 100 km from Pune. These villages are facing shortages of clean drinking water. The proposed project will aim at building 1-10 borewells around Urulikanchan in Pune district with the objective of providing safe supply of drinking water for the villagers.

This project is pending approval. The paperwork has been signed and has been sent to the Rotary Foundation. Project listed for the 2008-09 Rotary Year.

The Matching Grant application number from TRF is #68,097.

The TRF Staff in charge of this grant is agne jankauskaite (agne.jankauskaite@rotary.org).

The Rotary Clubs of Nigdi,Pune in India and Longueuil Rive-Sud in Canada are spearheading the project in partnership with BAIF Development Research Foundation based in India and the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Association. The Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (Saskatchewan, Canada) is contributing $5000 to the project in honour of BAIF. Other project partners including BAIF will provide coordination and follow-up services equivalent to US$2500. Additional project partners are being sought.
