The Government Hospital at Ernakulam, Kerala, India, is a large secondary hospital catering to around 1000 outpatients and with admission facilities to treat 600 patients. The hospital has received Air conditioners from our club for the Operation Theater. We have also constructed a Burns Care Unit - the only one in Government set up in Ernakulam. We are renovating two medical wards this year. To do something along with it to solve the water problem will be a useful project.
The hospital needs a lakh litres of water daily. Of these, 25000 litre drinking water is supplied by the water authority. Additional 75000 litre is taken with the help of Bore well. Though the water is used for non drinking uses, the quality of water is not good enough. A simple water treatment plant costing 6.5 lakh rupees approximately 15500 dollars, will be useful. We are in a position to generate 3000 dollars. We solicit help in this project in this rotary year when water management is a priority. |
