Public Cord Blood Bank
$65,000
In India Several thousand children with Blood Cancer and Thalassemia (presence of abnormal Hemoglobin) die for want of matching stem cells. However, several hundred umbilical cords are being discarded every day which could be collected to save these children. No Public Cord Blood Bank exists in India in the not for profit sector.
The grant will be used by the Jeevan Stem Cell Bank, unit of Jeevan blood Bank and Research Centre ( www.jeevan.org ) to buy an equipment to harvest stem cells from donated umbilical cord blood. Helps us to Make Dreams Real for these children. |
