2008-2009 RI President D.K. Lee has announced this year's main objective to be reducing chil deaths. This is quite a significant undertaking if you consider that 30,000 children die everyday. In light of this goal, while searching for opportunities to meet our international Rotary target, we have identified a very important need at the State Hospital in Söke. Although the population of Soke is 70,000 there is no intensive care incubator and over patient watch monitors for the newborn. As part of our need assessmnet we found out that the major cause of child death in the area was premature births. The objective of the project is to provide these medical devices to the hospital and to prevent death of premature born babies. |
