NGO Introduction

The NGO, Bhatkya Vimukta Jati Shikshan Sanstha (BVJSS), was founded in 1985 to work for the benefit of Nomadic Communities in India. It operates several school for poor children incuding deaf and dumb & mentally challenged. For more details, please refer their website : www.bvjssngo.com

BVJSS is operating several schools for the children of nomadic communities and providing them basic facilities such as food, shelter, medical and educational support. The emphasis is on a sense of goodness, brotherhood and kindness amongst the children so that they develop as good human beings and citizens of our country.

The Ashram Schools are being combined at Bakori Phata premises and BVJSS is planning to use the existing junior school premised dedicatedly for Deaf and Dumb children. This project is to provide water and infrstructure for the school which will have 450 residential children, teaching staff and support members.

Detailed Project Summary

Safe Drinking Water

Provision of Safe Drinking Water through Solar Reverse-Osmosis water supply system. The expected minimum life of the equipment is 10 years.

Infrastructure

Provision of Benches, Table, Chairs, Cupboards etc. for newly combined school

Provision of 5 KVA Generator

Provision of Submersible pump for a borehole well

Provision of Water Tank for storage of Water and related work

Project Benefits

Better health of Children, Staff and Workers due to provision of Purified water

Better education by providing basic infrastructure such as benches, table, chairs

Better atmosphere for education by getting electricity regularly through Generator

Availability of Water all the time due to provision of Water Tank inhouse fulfilling need of 450 kids and support staff

Cost Saving approx. 560 USD per year in medical expenses after coverting untreated water supply to Safe Drinking Water

This project is fully funded. The Coordinating Co-sponsor and the Primary International Sponsor are working on the grant paperwork to send to Rotary International. Project listed for the 2008-09 Rotary Year.

Project discussed with DGSC District 5340. We need to confirm exchange rate from RI currently at $43 and confirm that no issues with either club will prevent approval.

Requested MG status from RI for the Districts and Clubs involved to insure there are no impediments to grant approval. Also noted that the October exchange rate is now 45:1 which matches the value used in the project.
