 Greigreh Village, South of Jordan:
The village is about 200 KM south of Amman and its population is about 4000 and they are all dependent on Agriculture. They have an Agricultural Cooperative with 1600 members that runs Agriculture in the Village with an elected president. The utilized lands are distributed among the members at 5000 m2 to 10000m2 per member and each is fully responsible for farming. The sales of the crop is done through the Cooperative and the return goes to the farmer. During the average agricultural season their profit is about USD 200.00 to USD 300.00 per 1000 m2 per member which means that each family (member of the cooperative) will be making from USD 1000.00 to USD 3000.00 per year depending on the size of the land and the season if it is good or bad.
They have a water tank that needs renovating and it needs a new pipeline that starts at this tank to reach the surrounding farmlands which will help the 1500 members to irrigate more efficiently and will be able to increase the farmlands by at least 100000 m2 which will also add at least 10 to 20 or more new farmers to the cooperative.
They are totally independent from any Governmental agency which makes it easier to work with them.
The total cost of the project is estimated at about USD 48000.00 (1 US$ = 0.71 JD). We would appreciate your contribution to this project |
