Sanitation for Primary School

$17,300

The proposed project is to construct a toilet block containing sixteen units of toilets, eight each for girls and boys separately for the Baduriya Central College (BCC). Toilet facilities are a prime requirement to restore safe and hygienic sanitary environment necessary for 800 male and female students in the age group of 6 - 10 years and 26 teachers in the primary section of BCC. The total student body of BCC at present is 2,534. At present there are 5 toilets available out of which only 2 are in a useable condition. With funding secured for 10 toilets, this application is to construct a toilet block with 16 stalls for the students and the staff.

Lack of clean toilets in this school directly affects the overall progress of the students and also the contribution made by staff members. Despite many resource constraints that are akin to government funded schools in the country, BCC has been able to provide a higher standard of education, and therefore is attended by better performing students of other schools from several regions in the province. Therefore its student population is made up of children from different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

The project could be completed in 4 months from the date of starting construction.
