SOS Childrens Village Walkways

$18,000

The primary objective of SOS Village is to provide orphaned and abandoned children with food, housing , health care and education, in an environment which is as close as possible to a natural home. The Village helps meet the goals of D.K. Lee by reducing child mortality and providing health and education to children.

The primary objective is to provide new walkways throughout the SOS Karachi Village which are worn out over a period of last 20 years as a result of normal wear and tear and the heavy rains in the last few years. These walkways have become wobbly and unsafe. Renovation of these pathways is overdue. It is necessary to replace the existing surface with factory made durable tiles by dismantling existing worn out pavings, spreading leveling and dressing the surface with sweet earth & purchase of paving tiles and laying them on the surface at a cost of Rs 1,260,000 ( US$ 18,000 @ Rs 70=1 US$ )

SOS Karachi Village is part of SOS Children’s Villages of Sindh / Pakistan which is affiliated with SOS Kinderdorf International, the umbrella organization based in Innsbruck, Austria. It is one of 131 associations in different countries worldwide. The primary objective of SOS Village is to provide orphaned and abandoned children who are deprived of their natural parents with an environment which is close as possible to a natural home. The SOS Village is a community in which the child lives and finds shelter and support from other members of his/her family. A village spread over 5 acres of land comprises of 15 family homes, community hall offices, dispensary and adequate playgrounds. The aim is to give these children quality education and values enabling them to become contributing members of society.

New walkways will provide much needed facility for children to move about freely without spreading dirt and mud or tripping and hurting themselves. The project will be completed within 6-8 months of receiving the funding for the project.
