This project is a project of Mobilizing Rotary for Microcredit

All funds will be used for loan purposes. The NGO is paying all hard and administrative cost. Chilapa is located in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. The rural area to be served has a population of approximately 120,000 extremely poor people. When the program becomes self-sufficient, anticipated in 3/5 years, it is projected that there will be 4000 borrowers and a total of 20,000 family members whose lives will be positively impacted.

This project is completed. Project listed for the 2008-09 Rotary Year.

The Matching Grant application number from TRF is #69595.

The TRF Staff in charge of this grant is Lauren Marquez (lauren.marquez@rotary.org).

We have approximately 49,000 of the club funds needed to complete this project. We have all of the DDF requested. Loans were started in July 2008 and there are currently approximately 900 borrowers.

The program now has 1733 borrowers, a portfolio at risk of .03%, and total loan portfolio of $227,000. The project became self-sufficient two months ago. A fourth loan officer was hired in September. The NGO is now looking at expanding into a second area outside Chilapa.

As of the end of January 2010 there are 1900 borrowers, five loan officers, and approximately $175,000 in outstanding loans. The default rate continues at 0%. The NGO expect the program to have 2900 borrowers by year end with a loan portfolio of $325,000.
