Portable X-Ray Machine

Ankara University Medical School has been founded in 1946. The Children's hospital operates for 63 years in the same building and has 130 beds. It serves not only the m etropolitan area, but also the surrounding towns of Ankara, as well as o ther remote parts of Anatolia. The population of Turkey is 70 million. Ankara, the capital is 4 million with 40% representing the 0-18 age group. Ankara has a total of 5 hospitals with Pediatrics departments and 2 other Children's Hospitals. All these hospitals share 2 intesive care units, one of which belongs to Ankara University Children's Hospital. The Department of Pediatrics of Ankara University Medical School has the following divisions: Neurology, Nephrology, Hematology, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, Immunology & Allergy, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Molecular Genetics, Neonatology, Social Pediatrics (Healthy Infant Follow-up), Developmental Pediatrics; and Emergency and Intensive Care Units. The yearly outpatient admission rate of the Children's Hospital is about 12,000 while the inpatient admission is 2300. This project will cover the urgent need for a portable and modern x-ray device of the intensive care unit.

The doctors and experts in the Intensive Care Unit will attend to the necessary training course for proper usage of the device. Furthermore, the device has a guarantee of 2 years and necessary service will be free of any charge.

The host and international partmers will ortanize fundraising activities for the realization of the project. The local sponsor R.C Ankara-Gaziosmanpasa has already organized a music concert and collected the necessary funds. Further more the local slposor will be procuring the device organize the training seminars and will actively work to publicize this activity in the local ana national media.
