Computers for Bali

$15,150

This project addresses three needs: education, community service and poverty reduction. To meet these needs computer hardware is being requested. Campuhan College is similar to a technical vocational school and addresses one teaching area only….computer training with emphasis on graphics, multimedia and English. In Bali, the tourism industry is the island’s largest employer. The need for skilled graphics and multimedia staff greatly exceeds availability.

In the Balinese culture, if one member of a family is employed, income is shared by all. For a poverty level family, one employed family member often means everyone in the family has food, can better weather medical needs, can keep a child in school. One employed family member reduces poverty for a total family.

The College is expanding curriculum into multi-media and film production. To graduate fully competent, immediately employable students, there must be hands-on training using the tools of both multimedia and film production. This matching grant is meant to fulfill the one of the remaining needs.

The project will be completed in two months from receipt of funds.
