Brain Gym

Brain Gym is a Literacy project destined for low-income children attending neighborhood schools in Quito and Guayaquil, the two largest cities in Ecuador. The idea is to promote critical thinking with emphasis on auditory, visual, and kinetic skills. Brain Gym is based on the program PACE, Processing and Cognitive Enhancement. The intent is to better children's learning and their self-esteem which helps to break the circle of poverty. Staff training and application of PACE will be undertaken by Fundacion Educando al Ecuador based in Quito.

Host Partner collaborators will be Guayaquil La Puntilla and Guayaquil Cerro Azul. International Partner collaborator will be Chula Vista Sunrise; 2009 GSE Team Leader Marta Knight recently visited project site in Quito.

The schools Juan Carlos Peralta, Sagrada Familia,Carmen Amelia Hidaldo, Fundación El Triángulo, Juan Griego in Pichincha and Santa María de las Lojas, San Pedro de Daular and Number 482, already finished the implementation of the project, and we are ready to present the final report to the Rotary Foundation.
