   Mexico - Playas de Rosarito

Drug Prevention for Children

$15,000

Playas de Rosarito is a young city in the State of Baja California Mexico, there is a child population of about 40,000 kids, exposed to a great drug problem, product of the drug cartels, according to the health department 4,000 of those kids were involved in drugs this past year. This project is planned to prevent the drug addiction of children, from ages 5 to 12 years, by involving them in sports activities and permanent drug addiction seminars and conferences (DARE project), and involving them in community activities, such as graffitti cleaning. We already began the project starting with 20 football soccer teams with 15 children each, we intend to work in this project at least three years, by then, we will have involved more than 3,000 kids.

This MG will help purchase the team uniforms and equipment and the material for the conferences.

Finally the MG will benefit not only the children, but their parents, family and friends, involving families and community in the activities, helping spread awareness.
