Through this project, we will provide equipment and materials for making bread, biscuits and snacks for the community of
children and young people living at ”Casa Hogar Alegre” (Odres Nuevos Chiapas facilities) located in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas,
Mexico, and for sale locally.
This community is composed of 90 young orphans.(kids, adolescents, youth). These children do not have any support from family
for food, clothing or education.
Young adults and the woman in charge of the orphanage (Mama Liz) will be trained in the use and maintenance of the equipment.
The host Rotary club will collaborate with Mama Liz to open the local market and assist in product placement in retail stores of in the
locality.
All profits will benefit children and young people directly, because they can produce food for them with the profits from the products
they sell and to pay some of the basic food needs.
Once the grant is approved, is estimated to take about 60 days to purchase and receive the equipment, and about 3 weeks to install
and train young adults and Mama Liz in their use.
As older youth (from 18 years old and above) will be trained in the use and maintenance of equipment, they themselves may carry
out the project without technical assistance from third parties. Profits from the sale of bread, biscuits and snacks will return to the
orphanage, and most of it will be used to cover the basic needs of children and youth, the remaining will be used to acquire new
assets and maintain the production cycle permanently. Odres Nuevos Chiapas staff will take care to find new places where the
products can be distributed, thus creating a steady income.
