   India - Ludhiana

Eye Project

$21,250

The purpose is to provide treatment through modern technique to the needy patients of the community. The project is to provide Phaco Emulsification Machine for Rotary Eye Care Centre located in Shri Krishna Charitable Hospital, Ludhiana. The cost of the equipment is US$21250. With this stitchless Surgeries are possible and the patient with early recovery is early back to work.

2. How will it meet the needs of the community?: The purpose of providing Modern treatment, as low cost to the lower strata of the society will be achieved by this project. Ludhiana having a population of more than 2.5 millions has number of Eye Care Centre, but all of them are private which charged very huge amount for special surgeries with latest Equipment, which a poor man cannot afford. So he has to go for conventional methods of surgeries, which require more time to heal, and his work suffers for more no. of days. In ways he loses his livelihood for more no. of days. Presently for cataract stitchless surgeries, the private hospitals are charging around $ 90, which is about one month salary of people of lower class. With the opening of this centre, we propose the following charges:

Free: for lower class

$ 35: from people of lower middle class

$ 70: from rest of the community

The charges will help in maintaining the day to day expenses of the centre.

3. How will the host and international partners communicate and work together to implement this project? Please provide specific examples of activities:

Host partners and International partners have already communicated to implement this project and they will continue to do the same till the project execution stage. They will discuss what equipment to purchase & from where to purchase and problems, if any, in getting the grant funds from the TRF.
