We seek an international partner support for a project in D3070 proposed by Rotarian Dr Vijay Obed who has been joining the District medicare missions for the last few years. He works for Christan Medical College Hospital, Ludhiana.
Christian Medical College Hospital, Ludhiana, is a charitable hospital in North India which caters to patients from all over the north region and also from rest of India; irrespective of religion, caste, creed, race or community. This hospital has been providing yeoman services to the weaker sections of the society for the past 116 years.
Being a charitable hospital with limited resources and without any support from the government, the hospital faces a challenge to provide the best of care to the poor and the needy, which are provided subsidized and concessional treatment by the hospital.
The Plastic Surgery Department has been treating patients including children and women/men with burns and subsequent complications of burns like burn contractions. Many of the burn patients have deep burns and need skin grafting for the closure of their wounds. To harvest a "good" graft, good equipment like the Electro-dermatome is ideal and is a necessity in modern times; and we do not have an Electro-dermatome. With the help of the Electro-dermatome one could harvest precision grafts, as per one's desire; and the donor sites also heal speedily. Grafts could also be taken of different thickness and also repeatedly from the same donor sites if others are not available in case of extensive burns. With the help of this project, the department would now have a state of the equipment for harvesting precision skin grafts and hasten the healing process of the patient. This would also mean the stay in the hospital is reduced and therefore, the costs of treatment and hospitalization are also reduced. On the whole, the entire thing is very rewarding in terms of the results and the costs, and patient benefits.
We experience extremes of summer and extremes of winter in this region. In summer it could be as hot as 48 to 50 degrees C. In winter it could touch 0 degree or less. Lack of air-conditioning adds to the miseries of these patients. This project also wants to provide air-conditioning in areas of the plastic surgery ward, so as to alleviate the suffering and miseries of the admitted indoor patients, due to extremes of temperatures. Air-conditioning would provide the necessary comfort and convenience and would relieve them of the unnecessary distress.
The total project cost is estimated as US$ 16,000. we seek international partner clubs/districts to support the project with $5-6,000, the host club $3000, and D3070 DDF $3000 & TRF support should see the project thru.
Please explore if we can get some support for this project.
