The main objective of the project is to adopt a coastal fishing village in the east coast of Sri Lankha destroyed by the Tsunami and concentrate efforts in assisting the displaced families financially and also to provide moral support to restore confidence in themselves after losing the loved ones in this mega catastrophe. As Rotarians, the host club will volunteer services to contact the families in the area directly and also contact the local institutions and lend our hands as much as possible.
The members of the Host Club (Kandy Rotary) will get involved at a different level in addition to rushing basic necessities to the people affected in the area. The club will adopt a coastal fishing village and concentrate efforts in rehabilitating families assisting them in their speific near-term and long-term needs of the community. Each Rotarian from the host club will be volunteering hands on to carry out the tasks agreed upon either individually or in groups. The host club will educate the orphaned children and also provide employment opportunities to rebuild the fishing boats etc. |
