Integrated Village

A village Patharghata, 25 km away from Calcutta, where most of the people are below poverty line.With limited tubewells leading to acute water scarcity, residents are seen using the same pond water for washing ,bathing,drinking.Improper sanitation force villagers to go out in open and use makeshift toilets that contaminate the ground water leading to all types of water borne diseases like cholera, jaundice, worm infestation, diarrhoea .

Grant budget will be utilised to provide 4 tubewells for safe drinking water, help villagers with materials and masonry tecniques to construct 100 low cost sanitation for 100 households. This gives additional skill for employment.Fruit plants will provide each family with sustainable monthly income.A health care centre to provide mother and child care.

The said Village is Patharghata ,25 km. away from Calcutta.

632 families with 4170 people along with 500 families of adjoining villages benefits from this project.

Announcement letter received from TRF but project funds are yet to be received from TRF. Awaiting funds transfer before project goes full steam.

This project is still going on as grant funds were recieved only in May 2007.
1. Four deep tube wells have already been completed and handed over by our DG Debashish on 16th Feb07.
2. Fruit plants were distributed to 1000 villagers , 5 each to ensure constant source of income.
3. a health centre has been opened to serve the local people.
4 The last phase is to hand over 100 low cost sanitation to 100 families. Already 25 have been handed over while another 75 are in the process of completion. The project will stand closed once these are handed over .
