Mechanical Cow

$18,500

La Puntilla Rotary Club of Guayaquil, Ecuador and La Mesa Sunrise Rotary of La Mesa, California , Del Mar-Solana Beach and Chula Vista rotary clubs propose to provide two “Mechanical Cows” (soy bean milk machines) for two school sites in the Greater Guayaquil area. Both sites are in impoverish areas and will serve up to 500 Nursery/K-6 children daily with severe nutritional deficiencies in each of the two proposed sites: The two foundations involved for this project are: Fundacion Kairos and Fundacion Ciudadela Municipal Rotaria. The idea of both foundations is to allow these children to become the future leaders of Ecuador. With proper diet and education and solid spiritual and moral values and with a high self esteem, similar to that of a well being family, these children will become productive citizens of Ecuador. The Foundations support themselves with material donations, as well as personal time of many people and institutions. Feeding these children as if they were their own has been a main worry of these Foundation Boards so that the children can grow physically and mentally in a strong way to face the challenges of the future. Because of this, the Foundations are requesting the generous assistance of Rotary International to obtain funds for these soybean milk-producing machines. Fundacion Kairos will act as the primary Foundation and be responsible for and manage the operation of the two soy milk producing machines at the two locations and take fiscal responsibility for the Project with Fundacion Ciudadela Municipal Rotaria playing an collaborative role at the Ciudadela Rotaria and La Puntilla Rotary Club overseeing the progress at both school sites and assuring that the Project goals and objectives are carried out. Soy beans grow abundantly in Ecuador and thus producing the very nutritious drink of soy milk is very cost effective, about 15 cents a liter, versus nearly a dollar for whole milk. With this equipment the Fundacion Kairos will be able to better handle the feeding requirements and balanced diet for these children.
