   Liberia - Monrovia

Liberia Microcredit

$24,650

This project is a project of Mobilizing Rotary for Microcredit

This project will establish a microcredit program for impoverished women in Liberia. After the change in leadership recently from the warload Taylor to the first elected woman of an African nation, the people of Liberia are in great need of help and support. This microcredit project will target women whose husbands have died in the years of fighting and are struggling for survival.

This project is being proposed by Liberian refugees who have been living in the US since the war began in 1989. Now that a new government is in place, they are going home to help. They contacted the Foundation for Women (FFW) in San Diego who has been funding and creating microcredit programs for nearly ten years and asked for assistance. The FFW has agreed to be the NGO for this project.
