D-896

   Swaziland - Piggs Peak

School Equipment

$23,650

The Head Teacher of Endzingeni has made it known that the school and community is in need of computers, chairs and drilling of boreholes for water. The project will serve HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children whose parents are mostly deceased. These children are being raised by grandparents, extended family members or live in child-headed homes. The most difficult issue is that the life expectancy, due to the AIDS pandemic, is now 32 years of age. These chidren have very little guidance and much less, hope. Using computers at a desk , on a chair, with fresh water will not only increase their knowledge of the world but increase their life expectancy and motivate better citizens for the tiny, land-locked Kingdom of Swaziland.

The first phase of this project will provide computers to the school. The second phase of this phase will be to provide drinking water by sinking a borehole. Currently, rural schools have no safe drinking water and most families are forced to share any available water catchments with livestock. By providing safe water, many children will live healthier lives.
