Protected Drinking Water

School children in our towns are suffering from many water borne diseases because the water provided to them in schools is unsafe.Water containing organisms causing Diarrhea, Dysentery and other health hazards affect the quality of education and life as a whole of these young growing children.

This will be a District project in R.I.Dist. 3210 to provide 200 Biosand filters with water collecting tanks and outlet taps to prevent hand contamination and provide potable, protected drinking water for school children.

26,488 students in all the 37 schools in the town of Virudhunagar and a similar number of students in the government - aided schools in the town of Karaikudi in R.I.Dist 3210. will benefit from this project.

Check for $2000.00, from The Rotary Club of San Marcos, with all required paperwork, mailed to Santa Leal, TRF, Evanston, IL 60201.

99 biosand filters have been brought to Virudhunagar and 100 biosand filters have been taken to Karaikudi.
150 stainless steel containers, with lids and taps, to store the filtered water have been delivered to both Virudhunagar and Karaikudi.
The painting of the biosand filters is being completed.Then the biosand filters will be filled with sand and will need at least three weeks of priming before they can be used for supplying protected water to the school children.
This is only an interim report and as soon as the project is completed, I will submit the final report.

194 Biosand filters and the stainless steel drums for all the schools in Virudhunagar and Karaikudi have been installed and are functioning.
Once we settle the bill with DHAN Foundation, which supplied the Biosand filters, the final report will be sent to the Rotary Foundation Office in New Delhi and the file will be closed.

After review, it has been determined that the following
clarifications are needed before this portion of your reporting requirements is complete:
*TRF Final (Narrative) Report signed by the current club President;
*Photocopy of the Bank Statements submited. Foundation required Bank statement/ Bank Pass Book in original or Photocopy certified as true copy by Bank Manager or Chartered Accountant;
*In Utilization Certificate "....Financil Year ending on
30-06-2010" is mentioned which should be 30-03-2010 therefore please resubmit the fresh original copy of the Utilization Certificate along with Statement of Receipt and Payment for grant amount certified by Chartered Accountant on his letter head (along with his membership
number)i
*Original or photocopies of Bills of Payment/expenses vouchers. Note: If photocopies are submitted to RF (I), an undertaking stating that "all originals documents will be kept for a period of 8 years and will be produced as and when required by RF (I)".
*Beneficiary information in the form of Photographs (equipment should have the Rotary signage along with the grant number and name of the sponsoring clubs)/ newspaper clippings/ appreciation letter from
beneficiary, etc., is required.
