Disability amongst children is an important issue in Pakistan. This project addresses its most common and avoidable cause, Cerebral Palsy (CP), which can now be effectively cured by Acu-Laser Therapy. Rotary Club, through Anwar Trust, will provide free treatment services to hundreds of CP patients especially who cannot afford to pay.
The Trust has treated over 2,700 patients especially children suffering from Cerebral Palsy (CP) of various types and associated disorders like Epilepsy, Cortical Blindness, Spasticity, Hemiplegia, Paraplegia, Quadriplegia, Sensory-Neural Deafness and Speech Disorders. More than 60% of these patients are non-affording and they are being provided with free treatment services at the Center. The research studies document that the improvement rate in these patients who are otherwise thought to be untreatable is more than 70-80%.
The Trust receives patients from all over Pakistan and other countries like USA, India, UK, Germany, Denmark, Norway and Saudi Arabia. The research work has been presented at many international conferences on Neuro- Developmental Rehabilitation, Laser therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine in different countries. It was awarded with the best research study of the year award in 2004 at 4th International Conference on TCM held in Manchester, UK. The research papers have been published internationally in different journals.
The project proposes to provide free treatment services to CP patients especially children through Anwar Shah Trust for Cerebral Palsy and Paralysis for the benefit of the local poor population. Every treatment at the centre is free so that no CP patient who cannot afford to pay should miss the treatment. |
