Project Description

Country: USA

Location: City Heights

Total Budget: $1,000

Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Community economic development, The environment

Activity Type: Community Development: General

Summary: EXPOSURE TO COMMUNITY BUSINESSES & ORGANIZATIONS IN CITY HEIGHTS, SAN DIEGO.

Due to covid19 and new development & construction in City Heights many businesses & organizations have been affected in our neighborhood & other surrounding neighborhoods. The funds of this grant will be used to organize an event that will highlight these businesses and organizations to remind the general public of all the great things that are in our community, as well as highlighting what Rotary & Rotaract are all about. This event will allow for Rotary/Rotaract to connect and network for more service events/opportunities in the future. This event will promote goodwill & peace. The organizations we plan to invite support education & youth services. This event will be planned to take place at a local park where our club has had MANY service events in the past & promote being outside in the environment & hopefully motivate people to take care of their local parks.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)

Changes were made to our originally submitted grant. Instead of our original submission, our club helped package 300 life saving packages for the org. Border Angels in South San Diego. These packages help facilitate & potentially save lives for people making the perilous journey of crossing the border. Our club packaged 300 packages containing; beanies, bandanas, emergency blankets, & hand warmers. Additionally our club donated electrolytes & around 100 canned items for the organizations "Water Drop Project" that they do throughout the year where they'll be dropping these packages along the borders hot spots. This project promotes Peacebuilding & conflict resolution, Water, sanitation, & hygiene, & adult & child health.
